Request from member, Jim Jensen

Hello good guild people,

I am volunteering with the Council on Aging in the newly formed Santa Rosa Senior Social Club, which provides socialization for elders who live with physical and/or cognitive challenges, and provides a bit of respite time for their caregivers.

Does anyone have experience in the quilting realm of using fabric as therapy (other than what it does for us!)?

I have researched a bit, and found that quilts made of fabric with very different textures, patterns and colors bring some comfort to anxious hands. I was thinking that perhaps colorful shapes sewn together individually (like individual triangles and squares) as a kind of “puzzle” might work.

If anyone has any ideas, I will be very grateful.

Hi SRQG Members — you may not know Jim by name as he is one of our newer members, but you will recognize him as one of the people who sets up and takes down our our speaker system, hangs our guild banner, and then assists in our library. Hope you can give him some good ideas!
