Welcome to Block of the Month, 2013
2013 Co-chairpersons are Jim Jensen & Dianne Cheli
This project is designed to be fun and inspire creativity. At the Business Meeting (first meeting of the month), a block pattern will be introduced. During the month, members may make the block, submit it at the second monthly meeting (or the first meeting of the following month) and be entered in a drawing. The winner will receive all the blocks that are turned in during the first meeting of the following month.
(If there are many blocks, more than one winner may be awarded). Members may enter as many blocks as they wish.
To make it fun and rewarding, make 2 or 3 - one for the raffle, one for Community Quilts & one for yourself.
Our theme for 2013 is “Never Enough Nine Patch.”
The directions for all blocks will request the use of white tone on tone for the background, thus giving the blocks continuity throughout the year.
With that continuity in mind, we strongly suggest that you make a second block for yourself in your own chosen color scheme, so at the end of the year, you will have the blocks to make a sampler quilt.
We have changed the schedule for holiday blocks so that, by the time the holiday has arrived, you might be able to finish the top.
As we continue playing with the versatile Nine-Patch, for the month of May, we'll break out the red, white and blue in honor and celebration of our first "official" first lady, Dolley Madison. This is a quick and easy block to put together, and also uses Quarter Square Triangles. Have fun!
We’re excited about our exploration of the versatile “Nine Patch,” and hope you will continue to join us on our journey. Remember, make that extra block for yourself so you can have a sampler top to show us at the end of the year!
